4th and Bowl

Nothing like celebrating the 4th of July with a couple good friends and at the Hollywood Bowl. This large outdoor ampitheater, located in Hollywood (naturally) is a great venue for cool concerts-a must for visitors to southern California.

This year's show featured the Bowl's own Symphony Orchestra playing American favorites during the 1st half of the show, and featuring Kenny Loggins during the 2nd half of the evening. Yeah, the "Footloose" song, yes, now I know! Kenny rocked the house playing various songs that he wrote and performed throughout his early career. (sorry, I'm so music illiterate, I forgot what songs he actually played--but I assure you they were great and got me clappin. He got many-a-women off their seats dancing, singing and drooling (he's kind of old though...oh well, I guess I'm too young to appreciate them as the women did).

Later in the evening, the Bowl put on a nice display of

fireworks as only the Hollywood Bowl can deliver! It is rather cool, depending on if you sit toward the back where you are actually higher than the fireworks themselves! There is always that sense of awe and amazement when watching fireworks. I am always intrigued by the new designs and formations--it really is a great testament to our freedom to live and create in this country. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience the celabration year after year, when I know that there are many places in the world that still experience strife and civil war. My late dad, was a veteran, who served in the the Korean War. In my own special way, I thank those soldiers who are overseas serving our nation. While I don't agree with all the reasons we get involved in overseas affairs, I will never discount the sacrifice and lives they set aside to fight for our freedom. Henry K-I'm glad you are back from Iraq. Allan S. - shout out to you over in Germany (I think that's where you are). Congratulations on your new baby girl. God Bless both you guys.

So yeah, as I was saying, Hollywood Bowl is cool.
