When it's Hot, IT IS HOT!!!
(a blogspot mini-rewind)

Yes, take a good look at the picture: one is the time of day, and the other is the outside temperature on the I 5N freeway. Can you guess which is which?
Yep, It's 1:14 pm, and it's 512 degrees. Crazy huh? Crazy enough that you start seeing dyslexic. Right reading: time: 5:12pm, 114 degrees.

Then again 512 degrees did not feel that far fetched. It was unbelievably hot on my 41st roadtrip to Northern California. Probably the hottest on record for me. It was practically the same temperature driving up and coming back. So hot in fact that the news made a big deal about this day (pick a day, any day from the past week) being the highest recorded usage of utility demand in CA history. No offense, but a state as big as we are, with as much money we have (8th GDP entity in the world) would have a shortage of electricity and several incidences of power outages. (I think it's a conspiracy! I'm not crazy! I'm hot, but I'm not crazy!!)

I went up for a friend's wedding 2 weekends ago, and yes, you
guessed it, it was HOT! The wedding ceremony itself was indoors, but the reception was in a nice metro-urban place called the Valencia Hotel in San Jose's Santana Row shopping district. The hotel had this beautiful outdoor courtyard, but on this joyous day, it happened to be during a major (unexpected) heat wave. Oh well, enough about the heat for a moment, back to the wedding. It was a fun wedding in that I caught up with friends I hadn't seen or spoken to for a while. I was really encouraged to see one of my early sprititual mentors, Henry (sorry, no picture), who I consider one of the most influential people in my life. It was great seeing him and his wife Arleen-God bless those guys! Once again, congratulations Pegs & Chris (above)!!

For me, a Nor-Cal trip would not be complete without me talking about my nephew and niece: Zach & Hannah. Zach just turned 6 and will be entering 1st grade this coming year. Hannah is 4 and will be applying to Cal-Tech in the fall...just kidding; she is a clever girl. I love 'em. Maybe another year or so, I can snag them to come stay a week down here with me. Kids are amazing-sometimes they remind you of how clever you used to be (and what it has evolved to, present day), but how much more important it is that they need caring adults to help them develop well in a super-complex and crazy world. Zach & Hannah always remind me of how love never fails.

Did I mention it was hot? :)
