STRONG LIKE BULL!!!!

When life gets tuff, grab the bull by its...um, yeah. As tough as it has been lately, I am so glad I got good rest this past weekend, not to mention the extra hour fall back.

Anyone leave the clock alone to try and extend the effect? 1 day later, and I still haven't changed it!

I took some time to reflect this past weekend and realized how beneficial practicing good rest is, but also how challenging it is to make it for yourself. One of my good friends from church asked how I was doing, and I said "work has sucked me dry emotionally; so life outside of work has been quiet." While I don't think I'm burned out, I do feel that trying to make a conscious effort to rest on a daily basis is better than letting it accumulate and trying to figure out on the weekends. When life gets tough, you have to learn to fight back, with some time-outs of course. When they say perseverance builds character, I will certainly be the first to testify to that. While I still endure hardships, I hope that I learn enough from them, to work smarter.

Today's sermon at church was on 'oaths' -- from making them to learning to keep them. I know I've made enough to make oath-meal, I realized how much simpler and desirable my life could be if I bridged the gap between good intentions and my oaths. I never saw it this way, but it's funny how good intentions are a lot like debt:

-many interested parties
-it accummulates
-the older it gets, the more bothersome it becomes (if not taken care of)
-accountable (which can hinder dependability and integrity as a friend)
-never expires (unless there is a bankruptcy court for good intentions)
-the minimum (like "minimum payments") make no dent at all.

So in a year or less I promise to revisit this blog entry and see how much improvement I've made toward this goal. Intead of fighting the bull [life], I hope to run with it.

About the picture: The above picture is the famous bronze bull statue on Wall Street in New York. This is the good side; the backside is well, you will have to see it for yourself! New York is a great city to visit. The hardship and tragedy that so many experienced, has really shaped the character and perseverance of the city. Strong like bull!!!
