Ok, I can't take it anymore, I've given in to free blogs! What's a guy to do?
So what are MonkyFries? I never realized how much of a starting conversation piece my email sign-in would become. Although I'm glad it turned out that way, because it broke the ice better than I could ever thought of.
MonkyFries is the creation of 2 distinctive things about myself, born of neccessity, and bound by limitations. As I neared the end of my Sr. year at UC Riverside, I realized that my school email would not follow me out of the high-n-dry desert. AOL seemed like the best option. When I registered, I wanted to use MonkeyBoy as my user name, since it was a nickname given to me by many friends in highschool and college for my unique personality, and of course the face. When I first input my selection, it was taken. I then tried a few other variations. Taken. Gosh, I guess out of a few million people in the country, there are people that almost think like me!! It just so happened that I had eaten some fries from McDonald's (the one in Riverside that was close by sold bucket-o-fries--the unsung lifesaver of my college days). I then thought, there is NO WAY that someone would put the 2 together as a user name, so I typed in MonkeyFries. Sound good right? Well stinkin AOL (back then, believe it or not) had a 10 character limit for a user name. Unbelievable! By this time in the registration, I had spent almost an hour just to come up with a user name! Next thing to put was my address, which is another story because I was about to move-out and had not found a place yet. So after careful stare, I took out the "e" and that is MonkyFries. O(o.o)O
So are MonkyFries a good way to describe myself? In a way, yes, because it was a unique creation, born of careful thought, learning the hard way, and fun. I think an individual's creativity is as unique as the fingerprint. If you get to know me, and my friends can help vouch for me, I love creating stuff - through photography, through crafts, through cooking, through spreadsheets at work (spreadsheet? yeah, I'm an accountant by trade, but the good kind...I know what what you must have been thinkin...). Unfortunately, I have never been totally creative with words, so my hope is that as I do this blog thing, it will help me express thoughts more clearly, maybe get some feedback along the way, and just blog down what's on my mind so I can look back and wonder back "did I say that?", no way! And besides, the ad on the sign in for this blogger said "The fastest way to understand blogging is to try it out". I better get my $0 cents-worth out of this!!!
